Namibia is defined by immense space, striking landscapes and close encounters with nature: the dunes of the Namib, the Atlantic coast, remote Damaraland and the wildlife of Etosha National Park combine naturally in a varied itinerary.

From the dunes of the Namib and the Atlantic coast to Etosha, Namibia is shaped by space, contrast and close encounters with nature. A good route leaves enough time for the journey itself.
Namibia is made for touring. Distances are considerable, but the country reveals much of its character on the road: immense horizons, changing landscapes, quiet gravel routes and places where you may want to stay longer. A well-planned itinerary connects the major highlights without turning the journey into a race to cover kilometres.
Classic highlights include the great dunes around Sossusvlei, the Atlantic coast at Swakopmund, the rocky desert landscapes of Damaraland and the wildlife-rich plains of Etosha National Park. Depending on the route, Waterberg, the Kalahari or the Zambezi Region can add further contrasts.
Small-group tours combine a clear itinerary with personal support and the shared experience of travelling together. Depending on the programme, you may stay in lodges, permanent camps or a combination of accommodation styles. Namibia can therefore be experienced in comfort, close to nature or with a deliberately more adventurous emphasis.
A classic Namibia tour deserves enough time. Many routes take around two weeks, while more extensive journeys require longer. The key is a balanced rhythm of driving days, longer stays and time for activities such as game drives, walks and excursions.
Our Namibia journeys draw on many years of experience and cooperation with local partners. Use the selection on this page for inspiration and compare different travel formats, durations and budgets. If you are unsure which route suits you best, we will be happy to advise you personally.
Namibia can generally be visited throughout the year. The dry season from around May to October is particularly popular, with mostly sunny days, cool nights and good conditions for wildlife viewing.
From November to March temperatures can be higher, while seasonal rain brings greener landscapes and particularly interesting birdlife to some regions.
Allow roughly two weeks for the classic route through the Namib Desert, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. If you want to include additional regions or spend longer in selected places, plan for a correspondingly longer journey.
Alongside paved main roads, many rewarding routes use well-maintained gravel roads. Conditions can vary by region and weather. On a guided tour, an experienced driver takes care of the journey; on a self-drive tour, adjusting your speed and driving style is particularly important.
Etosha National Park and private reserves offer very good chances of seeing elephants, giraffes, zebras, several antelope species and many other animals. With some luck, lions, rhinos and other large wildlife may also be observed.
Options range from comfortable lodges and guest farms to permanent safari camps and classic camping tours. Many programmes combine different accommodation styles, offering several perspectives on the country.
Routine vaccinations should be checked before travel. Depending on your route, travel season and personal circumstances, additional travel-health advice may be appropriate.
There may be a malaria risk in certain northern and north-eastern regions. Please seek individual medical advice well before departure.
Yes. Namibia combines very well with Botswana, Victoria Falls or South Africa. Longer tours may, for example, link Etosha and north-eastern Namibia with the Okavango Delta or Chobe National Park.
