Day by day on your journey
Johannesburg – Greater Kruger
Early departure towards Mpumalanga, visiting God's Window and the Three Rondavels. Arrive in Greater Kruger in the evening.
Full-Day Safari in Kruger
A full day dedicated to wildlife viewing in Kruger National Park.
Central Kruger
Short bush walk and further game drives in the national park.
Eswatini
Cross the border and hike in the mountainous Malalotja Nature Reserve.
Zululand & Hluhluwe
Bush walk in the Ukuwela area, safari in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and a visit to a Zulu community.
Drakensberg
Travel into the Drakensberg and spend a full day hiking. En route, visit the Nelson Mandela Capture Site.
Wild Coast
A long driving day to Kei Mouth. The second day is free for the beach, village life and optional activities.
Addo Elephant National Park
Drive to Addo and enjoy your first game drive in the afternoon.
Knysna & Tsitsikamma
Spend two nights in Knysna; on the second day, visit the Storms River Mouth and hike along the Tsitsikamma coast.
Hermanus
Travel to the Whale Coast. Depending on the season, enjoy land-based whale watching or visit Fernkloof Nature Reserve.
Winelands & Cape Town
Travel via Stellenbosch to Cape Town. The following day, visit Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope, Hout Bay and the Waterfront.
Table Mountain & Journey's End
Visit Table Mountain in the morning, followed by time for last-minute shopping. The journey ends at around 6 pm.

The route includes several long driving days and is suitable for travelers with average to moderate fitness. For this tour, Sunway recommends a soft-sided travel bag weighing no more than approximately 12 kg, plus a small daypack.
For guests over 65, Sunway may require a medical certificate confirming fitness to travel prior to the start of the trip.

Who is the Rainbow Route suitable for?
For active travelers who want to experience as many different regions of South Africa as possible in one trip. Nature, safaris, mountains, coastlines, and cultural encounters alternate throughout.
How large is the group?
The trip is conducted with a maximum of twelve guests.
Are there long travel days?
Yes. The extensive route through South Africa involves some longer travel days. Long days on the road are generally followed by sufficient time to explore the respective region.
How long does the Rainbow Route last?
The trip lasts 17 days and leads from Johannesburg via Kruger National Park, Eswatini, Zululand, the Drakensberg, and the Garden Route to Cape Town.
Which safari experiences are included?
The program includes game drives in Kruger National Park, the Hluhluwe Game Reserve, and Addo Elephant National Park, as well as other nature and wilderness experiences along the route.
In which language is the trip conducted?
Depending on the travel date, the tour is offered in English or with German-speaking accompaniment or translation. The specific language is indicated for each date.

The trip is only partially suitable for people with limited mobility. Please contact us so that we can check the possibilities on an individual basis.
Active participation by guests is part of the Sunway travel concept, for example with your own luggage, loading the vehicle, and occasionally helping with the dishes.
