Ten days in the heart of Botswana's wilderness
The Hippo Route focuses on the great safari classics in northern Botswana. With your own 4x4, you will travel from Maun through Moremi and Khwai to Savuti and on to the Chobe River.
You will stay in a rooftop tent at pre-booked campsites in the middle of the wilderness areas. This leaves plenty of time for your own game drives and immersive nature experiences before the trip ends in Kasane.

Day by day on your journey
Arrival and Briefing
After arrival, transfer to the rental station. Following a detailed briefing on the vehicle and camping equipment, shop for supplies and spend the first night in Maun.
Two Days in Moremi
Drive into Moremi Game Reserve and spend two days experiencing the varied wilderness on the edge of the Okavango Delta, with excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing.
Wilderness on the Khwai River
Continue to the Khwai area on Moremi's northern boundary. Rivers, lagoons and woodland provide varied game drives.
Savuti in the Heart of Chobe
Travel to Savuti. The area is known for its changing water conditions and its great diversity of elephants, antelope and predators.
Large Herds on the Chobe
Spend two nights on the Chobe River. This water-rich region is particularly known for its high concentrations of elephants, hippos and buffalo.
Safari Ends in Kasane
After a final morning game drive, travel to Kasane. Return the rental vehicle there and your camping safari ends.

Do I need off-road experience for the Hippo Route?
Basic off-road driving skills are helpful. Optionally, a special driver training course can be booked before the trip begins.
