From the Indian Ocean to the African bush
This 14-day small-group Sunway tour combines South Africa’s Zululand and Kruger National Park with the beaches and coastal towns of Mozambique. Boat trips, snorkeling, dolphin watching, and relaxing days by the Indian Ocean alternate with game drives and bush walks.
The route leads from Johannesburg through Zululand, Kosi Bay, Ponta do Ouro, Maputo, Inhambane, and Chizavane into Kruger National Park and back to Johannesburg.
Beach and safari with Sunway

Day by day on your journey
Wilderness and Zulu Culture
Travel from Johannesburg to KwaZulu-Natal. In Zululand, the programme includes a bush walk, game drives in the wildlife reserves and encounters with Zulu culture.
Lakes, Mangroves and a Boat Trip
The journey continues to Kosi Bay with its lakes, mangroves and dune forests. In the afternoon, explore this special ecosystem on a boat trip, with time for swimming and snorkelling as well.
Dolphins and Coral Reefs
After crossing the border into Mozambique, reach Ponta do Ouro. Two boat excursions offer opportunities for snorkelling, watching dolphins and whales and – when conditions allow – encountering dolphins in the water.
Mozambique's Vibrant Capital
After a final coastal activity, continue to Maputo. On a walk, discover Portuguese-African influences, historic buildings and the lively city centre; in the evening, you may enjoy fresh seafood at a local restaurant.
Coastal Culture and Free Time by the Sea
Travel along the coast to Inhambane and onwards to Praia de Barra. The market, cathedral and Arab-Portuguese influences shape the town; afterwards there is time for the beach, swimming or optional activities such as diving and dhow trips.
Final Night on the Indian Ocean
Heading south, reach a secluded coastal lodge north of Xai-Xai. At low tide, a calm swimming and snorkelling area forms behind the offshore reef; a fish braai overlooking the ocean rounds off the day.
Back to the Bush
Travel back to South Africa via the Limpopo Transfrontier Park and into Kruger National Park. Game drives in the afternoon and again the following morning and afternoon offer excellent chances of seeing elephants, lions, giraffes and many other animals.
From the National Park into Private Wilderness
Set out on another morning game drive before leaving Kruger and reaching a private safari lodge. The afternoon is free to relax by the pool or around the campfire in the peaceful bush.
Bush Walk and Return Journey
The final day begins with a guided bush walk focusing on tracks and signs of the wilderness. After brunch, drive back to Johannesburg; the complimentary airport transfer reaches JNB in the late afternoon.
