Day 1: Cape Town

Arriving in Cape Town

After your individual arrival, you will be warmly welcomed at the airport by an English-speaking driver. Your private transfer will take you comfortably to your accommodation in a prime location — right on the lively V&A Waterfront. After check-in, you will have time to explore the area on your own. Stroll along the charming promenade, browse the boutiques, or enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the stylish restaurants with great views of Table Bay.

Day 2: Cape Town

Discover Cape Town — with heart and history

At 8:00 AM, you will be warmly welcomed by your German-speaking tour guide — your half-day sightseeing tour of Cape Town begins! You first pass the historic Heerengracht and the Castle of Good Hope before you reach the imposing Groote Kerk via Adderley Street with its numerous monuments. Through the charming Tamboerskloof district, the tour continues to the colorful Cape Malay Quarter (Bo-Kaap), which impresses with its colorful houses and narrow streets. Then visit lively Greenmarket Square and the old City Hall before taking a leisurely stroll around the leafy Company's Garden — once a vegetable garden owned by the Dutch East India Company. Weather permitting, you can take the famous cable car up to the majestic Table Mountain (ticket not included). The tour concludes with a tour of the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront — a vibrant center of shops, cafés and culture.

Depending on your wishes, your tour guide will then bring you back to the hotel — or you can enjoy some free time on the waterfront.

Day 3: Cape Town

Today, take an unforgettable day trip to the Cape Peninsula — the legendary Cape of Good Hope. This mystical place south of Cape Town is one of the most fascinating places in the world. Almost everyone knows the stories about the stormy cape, where countless ships once crashed and the Atlantic and Indian oceans seem to meet. Today, nature usually shows off its gentle side: When the weather is clear, you can enjoy a breathtaking view across the sea to the horizon.

Along the way, you'll discover some of the region's most beautiful highlights: You'll drive along one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the world — Chapman's Peak Drive, which nestles against the rocks high above the ocean.

In Simons Town, visit the famous penguin colony on Boulders Beach, where you'll get up close and personal with the charming little tailcoats. On the way back, enjoy spectacular views along the Boyes Drive coastal road and a day full of natural wonders, maritime history and memorable photo opportunities awaits you.

Day 4: Stellenbosch

Enjoyable trip through the wine region — Franschhoek and Stellenbosch

After exciting days in Cape Town, your journey continues to the idyllic wine country of South Africa. Just an hour's drive away is the historic town of Stellenbosch — known for its oak-lined avenues, well-preserved Cape Dutch architecture and lively cultural life. On a guided city tour, you will discover charming galleries, small boutiques and traditional cafés. You will then continue to Franschhoek, where you will enjoy a wine tasting at one of the region's renowned wineries. Surrounded by rolling hills, vines and a stylish backdrop, you'll learn more about the long wine-growing tradition.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn

Off to Oudtshoorn — ostrich metropolis along Route 62

After breakfast, your journey will take you along the picturesque Route 62 to Oudtshoorn, in the heart of the Little Karoo. The R62 is considered one of South Africa's most beautiful travel routes — it snakes through rolling hills, dreamy wine villages and vast semi-desert plains. Breathtaking views, charming farms and small villages with lots of character await you again and again along the way — a real alternative to the more well-known Garden Route. In Oudtshoorn, the world-famous ostrich capital, you first check in to your accommodation. In the afternoon, visit a traditional ostrich farm, where you will learn everything about the fascinating world of ostrich farming as part of an informative guided tour. Learn more about the breeding, keeping and economic significance of these extraordinary birds and experience the majestic animals up close.

Day 6: Knysna

From Caves to Lagoon — Cango Caves, Wales & Knysna

After breakfast, head to one of South Africa's geological wonders — the fascinating Cango Caves. These impressive limestone caves, which have dug themselves deep into the rock over millions of years, offer you a mysterious world of huge stalactite formations, enchanted halls and underground history.

The journey then continues towards the coast. During the whale season from September to November, you have the opportunity to stop in Mossel Bay and optionally take part in an approximately 90-minute whale watching boat safari (optional & weather permitting). With a bit of luck, you'll spot southern right whales or even dolphins — an unforgettable natural experience! Today's destination is charming Knysna, which is picturesquely situated on a turquoise lagoon, surrounded by thick forests and green hills. After checking in to your accommodation, you have the rest of the day at leisure. Day 7: Sundays River Valley

From the Wild Coast to the Elephant Realm — Tsitsikamma & Addo

Today, you'll continue your journey along the picturesque Garden Route — the destination is the spectacular Tsitsikamma National Park, a natural paradise on the rugged coast of the Eastern Cape. Depending on the weather, take a walk to the famous Storms River estuary, where the thundering waves of the Indian Ocean combine with the dense forests of the hinterland. The national park stretches for around 80 kilometers along the rugged coastline with steep cliffs, foaming surf and dramatic ocean views. Inland, an impressive mountain landscape awaits you with deeply cut valleys, dense high forests and species-rich mountain fynbos, crossed by wild rivers and gorges. In the afternoon, you'll reach the Addo Elephant National Park, a real highlight of your trip. On the very first day, you will experience an exciting game drive in a touring vehicle. Use the morning for a relaxing breakfast before continuing. Your journey takes you to Port Elizabeth, which is now known as Gqeberha. On an orientative city tour, you will discover the most important sights and learn more about the history of this charming coastal town.

On arrival at Durban airport, you will be greeted warmly by an English-speaking driver. A comfortable transfer takes you along the sunny coast to your next destination — the charming resort of Umdloti Beach.

After checking in at your accommodation, the evening is the perfect time to enjoy the fresh sea breeze on a relaxing stroll on the beach and end the day calmly. Day 10: St Lucia

From Sugarcane Fields to Wilderness — Safari Adventures & St Lucia

Today, you'll continue your journey along lush sugar cane fields and pineapple plantations — a foretaste of the fertile coastal region of KwaZulu-Natal. Afterwards, drive to nearby Hluhluwe-imfolozi Park, the oldest protected area in Africa. On an exciting game drive in an open safari vehicle, you'll explore the park's species-rich terrain. In addition to lions, elephants, giraffes and numerous antelope species, Hluhluwe is considered one of the best places to see the rare and endangered black rhinos. After this intensive safari experience, it's off to St Lucia, picturesquely situated between the Indian Ocean and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. St Lucia is not only popular with holidaymakers — a flock of hippos has also made their home here. Especially in the evening, when the sun is setting, the animals leave the water and walk through the village to fortify themselves on the fresh grass. Day 11: eSwatini

River safari & cultural change — from St Lucia to the Kingdom of eSwatini

In the morning, another highlight awaits you: a cozy, two-hour boat safari on the St Lucia Estuary. At a leisurely pace, your boat glides across the calm water and the impressive life in the river is soon revealed: hippos that emerge from the water grunting, looking at you with drowsy eyes and then slowly dive back down again. Crocodiles basking on the shore are seemingly motionless but always alert.

The birdlife here is also spectacular — with a bit of luck, you'll spot majestic pelicans, colorful kingfishers and many other feathered inhabitants of this unique wetland. You will then say goodbye to South Africa's coast and drive on to the small but fascinating kingdom (formerly Swaziland) — one of Africa's last three remaining monarchies. The landlocked country, which borders South Africa and Mozambique, surprises with a hilly, picturesque landscape that lies in soft waves under the African sky.

Your destination for the day is the green Ezulwini Valley, also known as the “Valley of Heaven.” Here you can visit a traditional craft market, where artistically made souvenirs and lovingly crafted handicrafts are offered. In a Swazi cultural village, you will finally dive into the living history and traditions of the Swazi people — an authentic and impressive end to this varied day.

Day 12: Hazyview

Back to South Africa — Welcome to the heart of the Panorama Route

After a relaxing breakfast, you say goodbye to the small kingdom of eSwatini and “return” to South Africa. As the landscape slowly merges into the majestic foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains, you are approaching the next highlight of your trip: the breathtaking Panorama Route. In the afternoon, you will reach your accommodation in Hazyview or Sabie, idyllically situated and a perfect starting point to discover the natural wonders of this region. The rest of the day is at your leisure. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you can relax in the hotel's lovingly landscaped garden and end the day with a good book or by the pool.

Day 13: Hoedspruit

Panorama route & arrival at Krüger — natural wonders and bush experience

Today, one of South Africa's most scenic routes awaits you: the legendary Panorama Route. Your path will take you, among other things, to Bourke's Luck Potholes, bizarre rock formations that have been shaped by thousands of years of water erosion and look like huge works of natural art. We continue to the Three Rondavels, three distinctive rocky outcrops that rise from the rock face like traditional round huts — with spectacular views of the Blyde River Canyon, which stretches majestically through the landscape and is one of the largest canyons in the world.

Experience a particularly magical moment at God's Window: From this vantage point, on a clear day, you can enjoy an almost limitless view of the green, semi-tropical Lowveld, the lowlands that stretch far into the horizon. The trip also takes you over winding mountain passes with ever new views of lush forests, deep valleys and waterfalls. In the early afternoon, you will reach your lodge near Kruger Park. After checking in, you can end the day just the way you like it. It's time to get up early today because there's a real highlight on the agenda: a full-day jeep safari in the world-famous Kruger National Park. In an open-top off-road vehicle, you'll explore one of Africa's largest game reserves, which covers almost 20,000 square kilometers and is home to an impressive variety of wildlife. With a bit of luck, you'll encounter the legendary Big Five during your game drive: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. But zebras, giraffes, kudus, warthogs, countless bird species and many other animals can also cross your path. You might spot a lioness basking on a rock, a herd of elephants refreshing themselves at the waterhole, or zebras wandering leisurely through the golden grasslands. Your experienced ranger knows the best spots to track down as many animals as possible and provides you with exciting information about the park's complex ecosystem along the way. Don't forget to have your camera ready and make sure you have enough storage space — the breathtaking landscapes and surprising animal encounters offer countless photo opportunities.

After a day full of exciting discoveries, return to your lodge, where you can relax and unwind in the evening — perhaps with a cool drink on the terrace while the glowing red sun disappears behind the acacia trees.

Farewell to the wild — return trip to Johannesburg

After exciting days in southern Africa, it's time to say goodbye today. After breakfast, you will set off for Johannesburg, where your impressive trip comes to an end. Your return flight is available from 4 p.m. — this leaves enough time for a last glimpse out of the window at the passing landscape that you've experienced so intensely in recent days.

With unforgettable memories of fascinating animal encounters, spectacular landscapes and heartfelt encounters, you will set off on your journey home. Or: Maybe it's just a “goodbye” — because Africa, as is well known, draws you back again and again.
