This training is designed for aspiring and experienced guides, as well as nature enthusiasts who are not seeking professional certification but want to immerse themselves more deeply in the African wilderness. The focus is on learning, practical skills, and gaining an intensive understanding of animals, plants, and ecological relationships.

What to expect from the Nature Guide course
The course combines theoretical knowledge with intensive practical training directly in the wilderness of the Okavango Delta. The individual topics are not covered as part of a tourist itinerary, but rather overlap and reinforce each other throughout the training.

Qualification or personal experience
The Nature Guide course is designed for both aspiring and experienced guides, as well as nature enthusiasts who are taking the training for personal interest. Those seeking a recognized qualification can sit for FGASA or BQA exams, depending on their individual goals. The corresponding registration and examination fees are not included in the trip price.

Do I need any prior knowledge?
No. No prior knowledge is required for the Nature Guide course. It is important that you are clear before booking whether you want to take the course for personal enrichment or with the goal of obtaining a qualification.
Can I take the course without professional ranger ambitions?
Yes. Many participants attend the training solely for the personal experience. However, this is a structured guide training course and not a budget safari; all participants take part in the scheduled learning and assessment elements.
How large is the group?
The course takes place with 4 to a maximum of 8 participants. In addition, one local participant sponsored by the African Guide Academy will join.
What activities are included in the training?
The program includes, among other things, bush walks, game drives, navigation and tracking, an overnight stay in the wilderness, astronomy, and theory sessions. Mokoro and motorboat excursions are dependent on water levels.
