Bush Skills – hands-on wilderness experience in the Okavango Delta

The Bush Skills course is designed for travelers who want to combine a personal African bush experience with practical and theoretical knowledge.

The course covers excerpts from advanced nature guide and walking guide training programs and also serves as excellent preparation for intensive self-drive safaris.

No prior knowledge required

A good command of English, general fitness, and a genuine interest in the wilderness are essential.

Small group

The course is now only available for private groups of two to eight participants.

Certificate of participation

Participants receive an Okavango Guiding Bush Skills certificate upon completion of the course.

Typical daily schedule

We head out into the wilderness early in the morning. Depending on animal movements and the learning objectives, training takes place on foot, in an open 4x4 vehicle, by motorboat, or by mokoro. A theory session follows in the late morning, followed by lunch and a break. Another practical training session takes place in the afternoon.

Sleep-out

During the week, there is an overnight stay at a remote location with minimal equipment.
