Namibia & Botswana - Southern Circuit

Today you explore the Kwando River by boat. Afterwards, a game drive in the Mahango Game Reserve takes you through the floodplains of the Kavango River.

In the morning, enjoy the rich birdlife around the camp. The route then follows the Kavango River, passing villages with thatched huts and local woodcarvings. In Rundu, the day ends with a spectacular sunset over the river.

The journey continues deeper into Namibia to Etosha National Park, the “great white place of dry water”. Namibia’s wildlife-rich northwest is home to an impressive diversity of species.

The full day is devoted to game drives in Etosha National Park. Around the vast dry pan, you search for elephants, herds of antelope, lions and many other species.

Once again, the entire day is dedicated to wildlife viewing. Morning and afternoon game drives take you around the Etosha Pan and its waterholes.

Travel south through beautiful desert landscapes to the Brandberg. The lodge lies in the dry bed of the Ugab River, habitat of Namibia’s rare desert-adapted elephants. With a local guide, you visit the famous White Lady rock painting.

Cross flat, open plains towards the coast. Along the way you visit the seal colony at Cape Cross before continuing south to the coastal town of Swakopmund.

Today is yours to enjoy at leisure. Explore Swakopmund or choose from a wide range of optional activities such as sandboarding, tandem skydiving, sea-kayaking or scenic flights. The town’s German colonial influence is still clearly visible in its architecture and cuisine.

Moon-like landscapes accompany the journey from the coast into the Namib Desert, home to its towering red sand dunes. Rough gravel roads make this a varied and scenic drive to Sesriem.

Hike into Sossusvlei, explore Sesriem Canyon and experience the dramatic dune landscapes of the Namib. If you prefer not to walk the final stretch to Sossusvlei, an optional 4x4 transfer is available.

The journey returns to Namibia’s capital. Windhoek blends African and European influences and welcomes you in the late afternoon. Dinner is at a restaurant at your own expense.

After crossing into Botswana, you spend the night in the heart of the Kalahari. On a walk with a local San guide, learn how this fascinating community lives and survives in the dry bush landscape.

Travel to Maun on the southern edge of the Okavango Delta. You stay overnight in a chalet and prepare for the journey into the delta by traditional mokoro, the dugout canoes of the region.

Travel deep into the Okavango Delta by open 4x4 vehicle and traditional mokoro. You spend two nights in a simple wilderness camp on a remote river island. Bush walks, birdwatching and the untouched water landscape define these special days.

The pre-erected tents have two camp beds and a chemical en-suite toilet; the crew sets up a shared bucket shower.

Another full day in the pristine wilderness of the Okavango Delta. Join bush walks with local guides, take a swim and enjoy the rich birdlife around the remote river island.

After the mokoro and 4x4 transfer, continue towards Nata. At the Makgadikgadi salt pans, experience the immense scale of Africa at sunset. After the rains, the pans fill with water and attract large numbers of waterbirds and wildlife.

Travel through Chobe Forest Reserve to Kasane. Chobe National Park is famous for its large herds of elephants and buffalo. In the afternoon, enjoy an exciting boat safari on the Chobe River and observe wildlife from the water.

In the morning, travel back to Livingstone via the Zambezi Bridge, where the tour ends around midday. A complimentary transfer to Livingstone Airport is offered at 12:00 pm for departing flights.
