This 15-day Sunway camping safari travels from Livingstone through Zambia and Zimbabwe. The route combines Victoria Falls and a canoe trip on the Lower Zambezi with remote mountain regions, historic ruins, and classic safari destinations.

Day by day on your journey
Starting at Victoria Falls
The journey begins on the Zambezi with time for the mighty Victoria Falls and the surrounding rainforest. Optional activities include scenic flights, a sunset cruise and other experiences.
Through Zambia's Miombo Woodlands
A longer drive leads through the wooded hills of southern Zambia to the Kafue River. In the afternoon, the group prepares for the upcoming canoe adventure on the Zambezi.
Canoeing through the Wilderness
Paddle by canoe along the Lower Zambezi past villages and impressive landscapes. Spend one night wild camping by the river; the following day continues through an area rich in elephants, hippos and birdlife.
Border Crossing and Chinhoyi Caves
Cross into Zimbabwe via Chirundu and travel through the Hurungwe area to Chinhoyi Caves. Inside the caves, the deep-blue water of the so-called Pool of the Fallen creates a striking sight.
Hiking in the Green Highlands
Spend two days exploring Nyanga National Park with its forests, waterfalls, lakes and views of Mount Nyangani, Zimbabwe's highest mountain. The cool highlands are especially rich in birdlife.
Mountain Landscapes and Bridal Veil Falls
Set up camp for two nights in Chimanimani National Park. Hiking trails lead through spectacular mountain scenery; on the second day, visit Bridal Veil Falls and optionally hike up Pork Pie Hill.
Traces of an Ancient Kingdom
On a guided walk, explore the ruins of Great Zimbabwe. The massive dry-stone walls and structures provide insight into one of southern Africa's most important historical centres.
Granite Rocks, Rock Art and Rhinos
In Matobo National Park, experience striking granite formations, ancient rock art and World's View. A game drive and guided walk offer, with a little luck, the chance to track rhinos on foot.
Big Game in Hwange
Spend two nights on the edge of Hwange National Park. A full safari day in an open 4x4 takes you to waterholes and through habitats used by large herds of elephants and buffalo as well as many other wild animals.
Return to Victoria Falls
A short transfer takes you to Victoria Falls, where the journey ends around midday. A complimentary transfer to Victoria Falls Airport is scheduled for the morning.
More about this journey
The trip is intentionally simple and active. Sunway provides the camping equipment; you will need to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. A soft-sided travel bag is much more practical for transport than a hard-shell suitcase.

Yes. The majority of overnight stays are at campsites, with one additional night of wild camping during the canoe trip.

The trip includes several hikes and a canoe excursion. A good level of basic fitness and a love for active outdoor experiences are recommended.
