Many of our tours – especially those with German-speaking guides – are guaranteed. For others, a minimum of four guests is required for the tour to proceed.

• All national park entrance fees are included in the price.
• Passport and visa required for South Africa and Mozambique. The Mozambique visa can be obtained at the border.
• Luggage limit: max. 12 kg in a soft-sided travel bag; a daypack is also recommended.
• Sleeping bags are not necessary, as bed linen is provided everywhere.
• We recommend bringing Euros, US Dollars, or South African Rand.
• Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for certain regions.

Shopping on the go

The selection of souvenirs along the route is limited, but you will occasionally find stalls selling hand-carved wooden figures, batik fabrics, or woven crafts. Zululand is particularly well-known for its traditional weaving.

Meals on tour

We prioritize delicious, healthy, and nutritious meals – usually three times a day. Exceptions (e.g., restaurant visits) are noted in the itinerary.

• Breakfast: Muesli, toast, coffee/tea, occasionally a hot breakfast
• Lunch: Sandwiches, cold cuts, salads
• Dinner: Braais (barbecues), stews, stir-fries

All meals are eaten together – by the truck, under the trees, or around the campfire. Cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils are provided.

Important:
We cater to allergies as well as vegetarian or vegan requests (please specify in advance), but we cannot guarantee individual preferences – especially in remote regions with limited product availability.

Drinks:
Tea, coffee, and fruit juices are provided at breakfast and dinner. Other drinks are to be purchased at your own expense. Bottled drinking water is not provided – please bring your own bottle.

Difficulty level

The tour is suitable for active travelers in normal physical health. Accommodations are comfortable but simple. The climate – especially in KwaZulu-Natal and Mozambique – can be hot and humid during the summer months (Dec–March). Drinking plenty of water is essential. There is also plenty of time for rest: you will have enough time to relax on the beach and in the bush.

Frequently asked questions about this tour

• Can I buy memory cards for my camera?
  ‍Memory cards and other camera accessories are occasionally available on the tour. A camera with a zoom lens ranging from wide-angle to telephoto, 35-200mm, is recommended for landscape and wildlife photography. Each vehicle is equipped with a 12/24V cigarette lighter, but you cannot rely on being able to charge your batteries there, so we recommend bringing a spare battery. Don't forget that you can (almost) always charge your camera when staying in accommodation (SA 220V).

• Safety?
  South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia are relatively safe, and your tour guide will do their best to show you the most beautiful sides of the country while conscientiously looking out for your safety. In the wilderness, your guide will brief you on safety guidelines—please follow them, keep an eye on your personal belongings, and nothing will stand in the way of a fantastic and unforgettable safari.
