Guten Morgen liebes Ajimba-Team,
Tina Winkler
WOW what a trip!
We are deeply impressed by what we were able to experience on our three-week self-drive tour through Namibia. People, animals, landscapes and accommodation have touched our hearts and souls. We are happy to have made this trip!
A big thank you goes to Mr. Asche / Ajimba AfricanTours and his team for the great support and arrangement of the trip.
Sigrid and Hans-Jürgen Barlage
The best way to get in touch with nature and escape from everyday life is to take this course at Kwapa Camp, in the middle of the Okavanga Delta.
And most importantly, you'll meet new friends.
Working as a team to expand your knowledge of tracks, animal behavior, tracking, plants, and ecology will change your life forever.
Game drives, nature hikes, sleeping in the bush and the trainer's amazing knowledge make it really worthwhile.

And last but not least, I would like to thank Holger for his patience and all the information I received before I left for Botswana.

A dream came true...
Dear Ajimba team,
I would like to thank you very much for the incredible trip you organized for us to Zimbabwe in the Hwange National Park to Nehimba Lodge.
Staying at Imvelo Safari Lodges, Victoria Falls Hotel and Chundu Island is an unforgettable experience that we will remember for a lifetime. The choice of accommodation exceeded our expectations. At Imvelo Safari Lodges, we not only had a luxurious environment, but also the opportunity to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. The game drives were breathtaking and we had the privilege of getting up close and personal with elephants, lions and other fascinating animals.
The magnificent Victoria Falls Hotel, with its historic charm and proximity to the breathtaking Victoria Falls, is a real highlight. The views were spectacular, and the helicopter ride over the falls allowed us to see the beauty of the region from a different perspective.
The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly Chundu Island. This secluded paradise, surrounded by lush nature and a tranquil atmosphere, was like a dream come true. The boat trips on the river and the encounters with hippos and crocodiles were unforgettable. The hospitality and service on Chundu Island made us feel like we were in paradise.
We would also like to thank you for your excellent organization and support during our trip. Every aspect was carefully planned, and your professionalism gave us a sense of security and comfort.
Thanks again for this wonderful trip.
You have given us wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. We will gladly recommend your services and hope that we will travel with Ajimba again in the future.
Kind regards,
Melinda

In May 2022, we had a wonderful time during our ranger training.
The days and especially nights in the bush allowed us to spend time in harmony with nature and wild animals...
South Africa It's always been our dream. Thanks to the Ajimba team for a well-organized trip to KwaZulu Natal. In particular, the friendliness of the people and the wonderful wildlife have enriched our trip. Relaxation, variety, sun and beach in southern Africa, that is exactly what we needed in the gloomy February in Bremen.
The animals were a highlight for us and we had a special experience when we visited the Zululand Cat Conservation Project in Emdoneni. The aim of the project is to protect cheetahs, serval cats, African wildcats and lynxes that have been orphaned or injured in the wild and require care and rehabilitation. We were also able to deliver a laptop to Sonny and his elementary school in Durban. This was also organized by our tour operator.
We are happy to recommend Ajimba African Tours.
In February 2020, thanks to the perfect preparation and organization by “Ajimba”, we had wonderful times in South Africa.
The trip started in Johannesburg, went via Mpumalanga and Kruger National Park to KwaZulu-Natal and Durban. Various trips and, of course, several game drives gave us unforgettable moments. It was particularly nice at the Emdoneni Lodge, and the Cheetah Project based there is particularly to praise, educational and sustainable.
We would like to thank Frank Wardenberg for a very successful, precisely coordinated planning of our trip and Nikki Thaver, who was always available for us on site.
“Making memories” in the very best sense!
We had been interested in traveling to Africa for a long time, so we came into contact with Mr. Asche at a travel fair. Thanks to the friendly and competent manner, we then had a travel proposal for South Africa worked out. Everything was tailored to our wishes and ideas.
In advance, we received a lot of information about planning and implementation, everything had a very personal touch. Well prepared and extensively worked out, our first trip to Africa then took us from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town by rental car.
The accommodation was perfect and we felt very comfortable there. Even a brief question on site was answered immediately. We have seen and experienced an awful lot in the two weeks; everything worked out brilliantly thanks to the good selection, information and preparatory work.
All in all, a wonderful, well-prepared family vacation.
Thanks to Mr. Asche & his team!
I called the tour operator Ajimba by chance and thanks to the immediate very warm, helpful contact with Mr. Asche, we planned our stay in Namibia according to our ideas.
His suggestions and ideas were just right for us. Five of us drove through the countryside by car and tents (one on the roof and one on the ground) for 2 weeks and are still overwhelmed by all the impressions. On our “own safaris” we saw so many animals and experienced many highlights with the Big Five. Namibia really impressed us in terms of landscape with different impressions of the mountain and desert world and the various camping sites reflected this perfectly. For us, it was a perfect family vacation with our big children, well prepared by Ajimba!
Travel 25.03. - 13.04.2019 - Seychelles - in a nutshell
With two islands and a sea trip across the inner Seychelles in between
1st flight from Frankfurt a.M. via Doha to Mahé Island/Seychelles with Qatar Airways. Qatar Airways received the World Award for Best Airline in 2018. Quite rightly so, everything was great and always happy with Qatar Airways.
2. Service on the islands
As individual travelers with two islands and a sea trip across the inner Seychelles in between, the various transfers from airport to port, from port to hotel, from hotel to ship, etc. were important and well organized, punctual, clean, polite, suitcases slow in the tropical warmth... Thanks Mason's Travel!
3. Travel stages
(1) The first island was Praslin for 5 days and the Berjaya Praslin Beach Hotel with air-conditioned bungalows, restaurants, swimming pool and right by the sea - very nice long beach with enough shade and snorkeling is useful - and shopping facilities (water) right there.
Because of the weight-neutral design of the three-week vacation, it is recommended to prepare or eat fruit plates, sliced and washed fruit, served with fresh coconut water from the nuts by the Seychellois Creole People of the beach, instead of lunch in the pizzeria.
Hotel was nice, clean, ***stars, good service all around. The front desk is extremely polite, courteous and successful in dealing with all questions and problems.
Sufficient breakfast and okay with lots of fruit, an individual selection of various and freshly prepared egg dishes, etc., sausage and cheese a la Germany, you shouldn't necessarily expect it in the Seychelles. The restaurant was very good. Seybrew, the local beer, is not only cheaper than the imported and well-known beer, it is also delicious.
Since we spent 7 days on the boat for the 2nd week to many important islands, we did not go on any trips from Praslin and Mahé and on Praslin. It certainly has enough of it.
Right on the hotel's sparkling white Cote d'Or Beach, just 25 m to the left of the supported coconut palm, highly recommended for souvenir shopping: the small art gallery!
(2) The Silhouette Cruises Ltd. Sea Star ship was very good (air-conditioned cabins) with a very attentive crew, good service, delicious food (full board). Since there was little wind per se during our deliberately chosen travel time and anchored underland at night, there was no case of seasickness among the 12 passengers and certainly no one thought of it.
The program was age-appropriate, demanding, varied and there was always something going on. Great little islands, great beaches, well-organized trips with the Vallee de Mai with the Coco de Mer on Praslin as a highlight for us.
Even for people over 60 years of age and above, everything was easy to handle. When snorkeling every day, usually in the afternoon, on various often deserted islands and beaches, weight and fitness don't matter anyway, the salt content is high enough for everyone in the Indian Ocean.
We found that instead of 3 island hopping and car leasing on the main islands, this boat trip was a very nice and pleasant, interesting alternative.
(3) After 7 days, ship 6 days on Mahé and the luxurious Carana Beach Hotel****.
Only 3 or 4 years old, everything at its best, very nice, delicious breakfast, great restaurant - available as an HP or individually. A very modern, very well air-conditioned double bungalow, sea view, very nice terrace, clean, great sanitary area, wide beds, not too soft, bathrobe and slippers... ZDF 22:00 in the evening after dinner, as there was a 2-hour time difference, after 2.5 weeks of TV withdrawal, was also very nice.
Great little beach, approx. 80 - 100 m long and intended only for max. 70 resort guests.
Bus stop at the hotel and for 50 cents around the whole island or to the capital Victoria. Well, that was a dream.
Conclusion:
Either way, the Seychelles are definitely worth a trip and not only offer fantastic beaches, sun and sea. Nice, friendly, unobtrusive people or Seychellois and the prices are rather non-negotiable. So almost everything just like at home... Thanks to the organizers and makers who have implemented our wishes so perfectly.
Dear Ajimba team,
We can only say — keep it up!
From planning to carrying out the trip, everything was very professional and well thought out.
My husband and I went on a 14-day round trip to South Africa in October: Through the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the northwest and the green Kalahari, we went to the Cederberg Mountains. A few more days were included in the wine-growing regions of the Cape and in the coastal town of Hermanus — whales wherever you looked. It was very impressive.
Both the quarters and the local support were excellent and very well selected by Ajimba's specialists. Anyway, everything was very personal, they really responded to our wishes.
South Africa is a wonderful country — we were able to experience this two years ago during a two-week vacation in the Cape Town region. So it was clear, South Africa again, but this time the East.
After a flight to Johannesburg via Paris, we started our round trip with the first overnight stay at The Peech Hotel in Melrose, Johannesburg. Wonderfully relaxed, well-arranged complex with a pretty garden and pool in the feel-good Melrose district. Since we were pretty exhausted after the overnight flight, our 17-year-old daughter, my husband and I took it easy for now and “chilled out” the day in the garden. In the evening, have a quick meal, sleep and enjoy the first day of discovery. From Johannesburg, we drove to the Mpumalange Highlands by rental car, and spent the night in the simple but cozy Misty Mountain Lodge — with a fireplace in the bedroom and a great view. It was pretty cold but the fireplace and electric blankets in bed were great. The next day we drove the Panorama Route. Absolute highlight “Blyde River Canyon” and also very pretty the Bourke's Luck Potholes.
The itinerary included another night at Misty MountainLodge. It is more advisable to take the Panorama Route and then head for the next destination, for us the Umlani Bush Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Umlani Bush Camp — expensive but worth every cent. The overnight cottages are basic, the bed is cozy and the bathroom is rudimentary. Electricity for light is available — you can charge your mobile phone in the small shop. And everything is just right! The surrounding area is beautiful, with nature, animals and perception in the foreground. The food was delicious and we especially enjoyed the conversations with the lodge staff over dinner together. After that, all guests sat comfortably around a fire (Bush TV), told or dreamt about the day, the game drives or whatever was happening behind their foreheads. The Game Drives were great — all Big Five — no jeep traffic jams, very quiet and relaxed, short hikes to the giraffes with the guide and a fantastic starry sky. We finally know what Southern Cross looks like! 2 nights in Umlani are a must. If you can treat yourself to 3 nights, you should.
After 2 days, we continued through the Orpen Gate through the Kruger National Park with many animal sightings further south. The Kruger was not entirely ours. After several African holidays in Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya with large herds of animals, we found the Kruger experience ok. The landscape is beautiful, but somehow we lacked atmosphere — everything is so perfect. Definitely set aside plenty of time. It took us about 7 hours from Orpen Gate to Malalane Gate — on a leisurely journey, but you can't drive faster than 50 km/h.
We spent the night at Mhlati Guest Cottage and drove on to Swaziland the next day. Border control is a real experience for us Europeans enjoying open borders. Park, get off, passport control in one bungalow, then show the car documents in another. Attention, here too, minors need an English-language birth certificate. All this with soooooo much peace and quiet. Wonderful! That too was done at some point and the journey continued at Mkhaya Game Reserve Stone Camp. It takes time for that! The road conditions are sometimes unbelievable, one pothole is lined up next and more than 40 kilometers per hour are not possible over long distances or an axle fracture is imminent. So I'd rather not. But as Africans always say: “You have the clock, we have the time.” At 16:00 we were picked up punctually at the meeting point by the ranger and brought to Stone Camp via Game Drive. It's really an experience. You stay in open huts — don't be afraid of the cold: the blankets are very warm and hot water bottles are also available. And don't be afraid of wild animals either: there are no big predators there and the monkeys only romp around the hut when you're not there. Monkeys love tea and sweets...
In the evening, there was super delicious food by the fire, followed by a dance performance by the staff — too bad they didn't save themselves that — nice but superfluous. The next morning at dawn, another game drive and then it was back to the car at 09:00 o'clock. The accommodation is really nice but the stay is very short. You simply have to know that and then decide whether the price-performance ratio is right for you.
So back to the car, leaving Swaziland — same procedure, but at Mananga Border Point, the whole thing really had former Eastern Bloc charm. The border between South Africa and Swaziland appears particularly worthy of protection.
St. Lucia on the Beach was next on the agenda — our daughter was happy. Relax and sunbathe at last. And finally the weather was better too. Sometimes we really froze the first week — we had onion clothes with us, so it was all good. According to reports, it was an exceptional week in South Africa. After that, we really enjoyed the warmth and sun. St. Lucia is a very pleasant little holiday resort, lots of restaurants, wonderful beaches and the highlight on the way to the most beautiful beach on Cape Vidal is a game drive with the opportunity to see buffaloes, rhinos, zebras... The place is simply good in between: relaxed civilization in beautiful surroundings. We stayed at Avalone Guest House. The garden is awesome, the rooms ok, the breakfast great.
Then it was off via Durban — not worth mentioning and easy to leave — to the Drakensberg Mountains. Our absolute highlight — my goodness, that's nice. We spent 2 nights in the comfortably furnished Montusi Mountain Lodge with a direct view of the “Amphitheatre”. And finally exercise: 2 hikes in spectacular nature, on very good and signposted hiking trails. For hiking enthusiasts, there are a variety of options here and anyone who wants will find their challenge. And if you like to eat well, the Montusi Mountain Lodge is also in great hands. Tasty! If you're planning the Drakensberg Mountains, then definitely go to Montusi Mountain Lodge. We would have liked to forego Durban so we could spend another day in the Drakensberg Mountains.
From the Drakensberg Mountains, we went back to Johannesburg airport. We were able to refuel our rental car directly at a somewhat hidden gas station, felt like in the middle of the airport. And briefly about the rental car: We didn't need a four-wheel drive for the route and during the season. That was Holger Asche's recommendation — we saved the money in the right place. If you are also planning to cross the border in Swaziland, remember to get an appropriate authorization from the car rental company — preferably in duplicate.
In short, an extremely positive customer experience at the end. Almost every evening, the agency got in touch with us, asked how we were doing and whether we needed or would like to have any tips. Yes, we wanted to, and so we got very helpful advice and even though we didn't like Durban, the restaurant recommendation was a hit. What steaks! :-)
South Africa — definitely again. Next time from Paternoster to Addo National Park.
I've always had the dream of bringing a group of adult English language students to South Africa, and Ajimba made my dreams come true in July 2018!
They organized a spectacular package where I could enjoy all the highlights of Kwa Zulu Natal with my group. With a great mix of safari and wildlife, mixed with the charms of the Drakensberg Mountains and its breathtaking landscapes. My group and I completed over 155 hours of English lessons with a wonderful Zulu flair. We've even mastered a few Zulu phrases. Our trip was so well planned that we could focus on all the beauty that this region has to offer.
The accommodation was great! The excellent food and friendliness of everyone we met made our trip a huge success, not only for learning but also for preserving wonderful memories and exciting adventures.
Our trip included a variety of highlights, from “Hippo Day” to “Cheetah Day” to interaction with elephants, a visit to the 'Tale of Two Cities Tour” in Durban, whale watching in St. Lucia, a visit to the highest pub in Africa after the ascent to the Sani Pass to Lesotho, just to name a few...
The Natal Midlands have inspired us with wonderful stories about the turbulent history of the region around a warming, inviting fire, as well as the joy of enjoying good South African wines and food in wonderful accommodation.
All in all, a great success. Thank you Ajimba!
The first time — Africa beginner and recovery offender traveling with Ajimba
What do you do with a beginner in Africa in South Africa - that's right, the basics for now.
Our trip started in Port Elizabeth and took us via a detour to a private part of the Addo National Park, on via the Garden Route, into the hinterland to Oudtshoorn, on via the Winelands to Cape Town.
How excited I was!!! Is it all working? Two women traveling alone in South Africa...
But all the fuss is in vain. It all began with the pick-up service at the airport, which took us to the car rental on foot, so no long searching. Ajimba had recommended that we get a South African SIM card so that we could navigate via a mobile phone. Thankfully! The navigation system often did not want to find the location information.
And then we drove straight to paradise — Kuzuko Lodge! The road there was long and bumpy, but that's just the way it is with paradise.
Game Drives - we were able to experience three of them. And when you sit in an open vehicle for the first time, just three meters (!) Away from three mature lions, you experience great respect, awe and an indescribable goosebumps running up and down your back. Simply indescribable!
Kuzuko Lodge is small but nice. You live beautifully in small cabins, a small pool and a large main house. The food was excellent and the people were indescribably friendly. The area of Kuzuko Lodge is limited, and the animal population is adapted to this. It is not like in a zoo, where you pass the first elephant after 100 meters. The drivers on the Game Drives are looking for the animals and that can also take some time. It's just nature! We really liked the fact that Ajimba also works with such small reserves.
Thanks to the rental car, we were unbound and could make stops anytime and anywhere. We had a different accommodation almost every night on our trip, so we saw a lot, but actually everywhere it was much too nice to stay just one night...
We were contacted several times by Ajimba and/or their partners in South Africa and asked whether everything was good, we needed information or if anything else could be done for us. What a service!
And so we drove along the Garden Route, crossed the mountains into the Klein Karoo, spent a night there at Mooiplaas Guesthouse and looked for our way via Route 62 to Stellenbosch. From there, it was on to Cape Town.
From Cape Town, we had a wonderful day trip across the Cape Peninsula. We had booked a tour guide for this trip, also via Ajimba. It was great! Don't read a map for a day, use your GPS, search for a parking space, search for a hotel, but simply be driven and get information about the country and its people. After this day, it was only with a heavy heart that we separated from our dear guide. And it is clear to us that if we are in Cape Town again and need a guide, then Neville is the only option for us!
A conclusion:
It was South Africa for me for the first time, but certainly not the last. We would always let Ajimba plan our trips again — so calmly and with these many wonderful recommendations... We would love to go straight away!
We can fully recommend Ajimba. In spring, we spent our (dream) vacation in South Africa with the family. Holger Asche and his team had careful and competent help with planning the itinerary and focal points in advance.
Even when there were problems with online check-in, the team was there and was able to solve the booking problem with the airline at very short notice, so that everything worked very well. Local support was also very good. From assisting with car rental collection to telephone tips for the respective locations, we were always well taken care of.
The accommodations selected by Holger Asche were all (!) particularly and precisely tailored to our wishes. Unfortunately, we were not always able to spend the time in the houses that they would have been worth as we still had so much to see.
We must particularly highlight the many insider tips that we have received and without which we would certainly have seen or tried out much less interesting things.
As already said above: unreserved recommendation!! The next vacation in South Africa can only be booked through Ajimba! Thanks again to Holger Asche and his team!
