Day 1:
Maun

Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and taken to the rental station. Here, you will receive a detailed briefing on your vehicle, its equipment, and the route you will be taking over the coming days. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to stock up on supplies for the days ahead at one of the local supermarkets.

You will spend your first night at the campsite in Maun.

Day 2 & 3:
Camping in the Moremi Game Reserve

Driving time from Maun approx. 4-6 hours, depending on wildlife sightings

You will spend two days in the Moremi Game Reserve. Located in the east of the Okavango Delta, this park is one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It covers more than 4,871 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, and the varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest.

This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide range of wildlife, from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, as well as lions, cheetahs, and packs of wild dogs on the open plains. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 species on Botswana's national bird list.

‍Day 4 & 5:
Camping in the Khwai area of the Moremi Game Reserve

Break camp and continue towards the Khwai River.

The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern border of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary, which allows animals to move freely between the woodlands, where water is plentiful during the rainy season, and the permanent rivers and lagoons of the delta.

Day 6 & 7:
Savuti Area (Chobe National Park)

Break camp and continue towards Chobe National Park.

Savuti, also known as Savute, lies in the heart of the beautiful Chobe National Park. This dynamic wilderness is an expansive savanna punctuated by several rocky outcrops that stand like ancient relics guarding the mostly dry valley that was once its lifeline. The Savuti region goes through wet and dry cycles; where wild dogs hunt in the dry riverbed today, crocodiles were swimming just twenty years ago. Visitors to this spectacular area can discover numerous animal species, including: a variety of birds, elephants, antelopes, lions, jackals and foxes, tsessebes, kudus, hyenas, cheetahs, Cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebras and wildebeests.

Day 8 & 9:
Ihaha Area (Chobe National Park)

The Chobe River forms the northern border of Chobe National Park and is renowned for its diverse and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of elephant and hippo populations, but the water attracts all kinds of animals, including large herds of buffalo. A visit to this area guarantees a close encounter with a range of African wildlife species.

Day 10:
Kasane - (Katima Mulilo)

After your morning game drive, you will head to the town of Kasane. Here, you have the opportunity to restock your supplies, pick up food and drinks, and fill up the car for the days ahead. You can either spend the night in Kasane or cross the border into Namibia via the Ngoma border post, with an overnight stay near Katima Mulilo on the Zambezi.

Day 11 & 12:
Kwando River, Caprivi Strip

These two days are dedicated to the national parks of the Caprivi Strip. Mudumu, Bwabwata, and Nkasa Lupala National Parks are all wild and rarely visited, offering a truly unique safari experience. With your 4x4 vehicle, you are well-equipped for this. Mudumu National Park is perfect for a day trip. The tracks are only accessible by 4x4 and can be affected by rainfall and river levels, especially during the rainy season from November to April. In Bwabwata National Park, an untouched and beautiful part of the Caprivi, you can frequently observe an abundance of elephants and buffalo. Nkasa Lupala National Park (formerly Mamili Park), located east of Mudumu National Park, offers open savannas, beautiful leadwood trees, acacias, and mopane bushland. Herds of hundreds of buffalo are a common sight, along with plenty of lechwe, kudu, and impala.

‍Day 13:
Ngepi

The camp is beautifully situated on the banks of the Okavango River. It is known, among other things, for its unique, crocodile-proof pool in the river. From here, you can take game drives into the Mahango and Bwabwata National Parks or visit the nearby Popa Falls.

Day 14:
Tsodilo Hills

After breakfast, you will leave Namibia and return to Botswana. Today’s destination is the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tsodilo Hills. These four massive rock formations, rising up to 1,489 meters, are the highest points in Botswana. Unlike the wetlands you have visited so far, you will find yourself in a desert-like landscape here. Tsodilo has one of the highest concentrations of rock art in the world and is often referred to as the Louvre of the Desert. Local guides will show you the rock paintings (for a small fee) and share the history of this magical place.

Day 15:
Maun

After breaking camp, you will head back to your starting point in Maun, a drive of about 4–5 hours, where your journey comes full circle and draws to a close. Here, you will return your rental vehicle. Depending on your booked itinerary, you will either depart for Europe or continue on to your extension program.
