Day 1:Maun
Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and taken to the rental station. Here, you will receive a detailed briefing on your vehicle, its equipment, and the route you will be taking over the coming days. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to stock up on supplies for the days ahead at one of the local supermarkets.
You will spend your first night at the campsite in Maun.
Day 2 & 3:
Camping in the Moremi Game Reserve
Driving time from Maun approx. 4-6 hours, depending on wildlife sightings
You will spend two days in the Moremi Game Reserve. Located in the east of the Okavango Delta, this park is one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It covers more than 4,871 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, and the varied terrain includes savannah, winding waterways, and dense forest.
This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide range of wildlife, from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest, and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, as well as lions, cheetahs, and packs of wild dogs on the open plains. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 species on Botswana's national bird list.
Day 4 & 5:
Camping in the Khwai area of the Moremi Game Reserve
Break camp and continue towards the Khwai River.
The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern border of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced boundary, which allows animals to move freely between the woodlands, where water is plentiful during the rainy season, and the permanent rivers and lagoons of the delta.
Day 6 & 7:
Savuti Area (Chobe National Park)
Break camp and continue towards Chobe National Park.
Savuti, also known as Savute, lies in the heart of the beautiful Chobe National Park. This dynamic wilderness is an expansive savanna punctuated by several rocky outcrops that stand like ancient relics guarding the mostly dry valley that was once its lifeline. The Savuti area goes through wet and dry cycles; where wild dogs hunt in the dry riverbed today, crocodiles were swimming twenty years ago. Visitors to this spectacular area can discover numerous animal species, including: a variety of birds, elephants, antelopes, lions, jackals and foxes, tsessebes, kudus, hyenas, cheetahs, Cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebras and wildebeests.
Day 8 & 9:
Ihaha Area (Chobe National Park)
The Chobe River forms the northern border of Chobe National Park and is renowned for its diverse and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of elephant and hippo populations, but the water attracts all kinds of animals, including large herds of buffalo. A visit to this area guarantees a close encounter with a range of African wildlife species.
Day 10:
Kasane - Nata
After your morning game drive, you will head to the town of Kasane. Here, you will have the opportunity to restock your supplies, pick up food and drinks, and fill up the car for the days ahead. Afterward, you will embark on a slightly longer drive on paved roads to Nata, where you should arrive in about 3-4 hours. Tonight, you will camp at Nata Lodge.
Day 11:
Kubu Island
Early in the morning, you will set off for Kubu Island. Despite its name, Kubu is no longer an island today, but rather a kilometer-long ridge in the middle of the Sua Pan that has a mystical aura. Jackals, hyenas, antelopes, and sometimes even elephants are frequently encountered here.
Day 12 & 13:
Makgadikgadi Pans (Nxai Pan, Baines Baobabs & Njuca Hills)
The Makgadikgadi salt pans are vast salt flats surrounded by grassy savanna. During the rainy season from December to March, many animals migrate from the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park into this area. You will primarily encounter grazers, followed by their predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and many others. If heavy rains cause the salt pans to flood, they become breeding grounds for thousands of flamingos. You will spend two nights here exploring this fascinating region.
Day 14:
Khumaga
After breakfast, you will head to the western part of Makgadikgadi National Park. Your final overnight stop is Khumaga Camp, located on the Boteti River. Elephants and zebras are frequently spotted here, and in some areas, you may even see hippos. The landscape is typical dry savanna, but the riverbanks are home to unique palm forests.
Day 15:
Maun
After breaking camp, you will drive for about 2-3 hours back to your starting point in Maun, where your journey comes full circle and draws to a close. You will return your rental vehicle here, and depending on your booked itinerary, you will either depart for Europe or continue on to your next program.

The journey is daytime possible. We are also happy to adjust the itinerary to suit your preferences. If you need a hotel stay at the beginning or end of your trip, we would be happy to book it for you.
It is possible to take a special driver training course on the morning of the second day to prepare you for the unique conditions in Botswana. This includes driving in soft sand, slippery clay and mud, and through water crossings. You will also learn how to recover your vehicle should you get stuck. The training must be booked in advance and currently costs € 120.00.
