Day 1:
Maun
After your arrival, you will be met by our representative and taken to the rental station. Here you will receive detailed information about your vehicle, the equipment and your route that you will be driving in the coming days. You will then have the opportunity to buy your supplies for the next few days at one of the local supermarkets.
You will spend your first night at the camping site in Maun.
Day 2 & 3:
Camping in the Moreni Game Reserve
Travel time from Maun approx. 4-6 hours, depending on wildlife viewing
You'll spend two days at the Moreni Game Reserve. Located in the east of the Okavango Delta, this park is one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa. It covers more than 4,871 square kilometers of pristine wilderness, and the varied terrain includes savanna, winding waterways, and dense forest.
This diverse ecosystem supports an incredibly wide range of wildlife, from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, the rare Sitatunga and Letschwe antelope, lion, cheetah and packs of wild dogs in open meadows. The bird life is fertile and includes most of the 550 bird species on Botswana's national bird list.
Day 4 & 5:
Camping in the Khwai area of the Moreni Game Reserve
Dismantling the camp and continuing towards the Khwai River.
The Khwai area of the Okavango is located along the northern border of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an unfenced border that allows animals to move freely between forests, where water is abundant during the rainy season, and the permanent rivers and lagoons of the delta.
Day 6 & 7:
Savuti Area (Chobe National Park)
Dismantling the camp and continuing towards Chobe National Park.
Savuti, also known as Savute, is located in the heart of the beautiful Chobe National Park. This dynamic wilderness is an extensive savanna punctuated by several rocky outcrops that guard the mostly dry valley that was once his lifeline like a relic from ancient times. The Savuti region goes through wet and dry cycles, and where wild dogs hunt in the dry course of the river today, crocodiles swam twenty years ago. Visitors to this spectacular area can discover numerous animal species, including: a wide variety of birds, elephants, antelopes, lions, jackals and foxes, zessebes, kudus, hyenas, cheetahs, cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebras and wildebeests.
Day 8 & 9:
Ihaha Area (Chobe National Park)
The Chobe River forms the northern border of Chobe National Park, known for its diverse and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of elephant and hippo populations, but the water attracts all types of animals, including large herds of buffaloes. A visit to this area guarantees a close encounter with a range of species of African wildlife.
Day 10:
Kasane - Nata
After the morning game drive, drive to the town of Kasane. Here you can replenish your supplies, take food and drinks on board and really refuel your car for the next few days. Then it's on a slightly longer asphalted stage to Nata, where you should arrive after about 3-4 hours. We're camping tonight at Nata Lodge.
Day 11:
Kubu Island
Early in the morning, it is time to set off for Kubu Island. Contrary to the name, Kubu is no longer an island today, but an approximately one kilometer long elevation in the middle of Sua Pan, which already has a mystical aura. Jackals, hyenas, antelopes and sometimes elephants are often found here.
Day 12 & 13:
Makgadikgadi Pans (Nxai Pan, Baines Baobabs & Njuca Hills)
The Makgadikgadi salt pans are pure salt pans, but they are surrounded by grass savanna. However, during the rainy season from December to March, many animals migrate from the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park to this area. Grass-eaters in particular are now found, followed by their hunters such as lions, leopard cheetahs and many more. If the salt pans are flooded after heavy rainfall, they become breeding grounds for thousands of flamingos. You'll spend two nights here and explore this exciting area.
Day 14:
Khumaga
After breakfast, head to the west of Makgadikgadi National Park. Your last overnight stay, Khumaga Camp, is on the Boteti River. Elephants and zebras often stay here, and hippos in some places. The landscape is typical dry savanna, but there are also unique palm forests on the river.
Day 15:
Maun
After leaving the camp, it's about 2-3 hours back to your starting point, Maun, where the circle comes full circle and marks the end of this trip for you. Here you return your rental vehicle and, depending on the program you have booked, you can return to Europe from here or take part in the connection program.
