Overview

Zimbabwe — the magic of silence, the power of nature

There are trips that are more than just a change of scenery. They touch, slow down and open up the view of the essentials. zimbabwe is a destination that is able to do just that: unspoiled, original and full of contrasts — between granite mountains and golden savanna, between wild wildlife and ancient culture, between the quiet breath of the bush and the thunderous fall of the Victoria Falls.

This 8-day private trip is aimed at active, nature-loving travelers who want depth, space and genuine experiences. Comfortably organized — with transfers, stylish accommodation and experienced guides — yet free enough to consciously experience every day.

The journey begins in the spiritual rock landscapes of Matobo National Parks, where hikes to millennia-old rock carvings and rhino encounters on foot are among the most impressive experiences. You will then be waiting for you Hwange, the largest protected area in the country — a paradise for safari lovers with herds of elephants, packs of lions and vast plains stretching to the horizon. The crowning finale: two nights in Victoria Falls, where the power of the Zambezi becomes a tangible natural wonder.

What makes this trip special is the interplay between closeness and distance, between movement and leisure. Whether it's a game drive, a bush walk or a quiet moment at the waterhole — here you can experience Africa with all your senses.

A journey that slows down — and leaves traces behind. When did you last feel completely alive?

Day by day: itinerary

Treasures of Western Zimbabwe

DAY 1: BULAWAYO – MATOBO NATIONAL PARK

(approx. 50 km / approx. 1:00 hour driving time)

Upon arrival at Bulawayo Airport, you will be met by your local guide. The drive through the rural surroundings toward Matobo National Park offers an immediate first impression of authentic Zimbabwe. In the early afternoon, you will reach the impressively situated Big Cave Camp, which blends harmoniously into the surrounding granite boulders. After checking in and enjoying a light lunch, you will set off on a guided hike through the lodge's private concession area. Amidst bizarre rock formations, centuries-old fig trees, and open savanna, the beauty of Matobo reveals itself in a truly immersive way. In the evening, a stylish dinner with a panoramic view awaits—the perfect start to your Zimbabwe tour.

DAY 2: MATOBO NATIONAL PARK

Today is an intensive day in the UNESCO-protected Matobo National Park. After breakfast, you will head out with an experienced guide to track the rare white rhinoceros—a combination of a game drive and a walking safari that makes this activity particularly memorable. Back at the lodge, you can recharge with a relaxed lunch before diving into the spiritual and cultural dimensions of the park in the afternoon. You will visit impressive San rock art, marvel at the view from "World’s View," and finally stand at the grave of Cecil Rhodes, whose life story is closely linked to this region. The day ends with dinner at the lodge, filled with nature, history, and fascinating encounters.

DAY 3: MATOBO – EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

(approx. 300 km / approx. 5:00 hours driving time)

After breakfast, your journey continues to the eastern part of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest wildlife sanctuary. The route leads through open bushland, small villages, and dense dry forests until you reach Ivory Lodge in the early afternoon. The elevated chalets offer magnificent views of a frequently visited waterhole. After lunch, you will head out on your first game drive in an open 4x4 vehicle, accompanied by an experienced guide who will introduce you to the diversity of the local wildlife. In the evening, an atmospheric dinner awaits you at the camp—perhaps accompanied by the distant call of a hyena or the crackling of the nearby bush.

DAY 4: EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

The day begins early with a morning game drive in an open vehicle. During the cool morning hours, many animals are particularly active: lions return from the hunt, elephants head to the waterholes, and antelopes graze in the first light of day. Those who wish can then take a guided bush walk—an intensive experience that adds new perspectives to the safari. After lunch, there is time to relax before heading back out into the bush in the afternoon. Perhaps you will encounter a herd of buffalo or watch baboons playing. The day ends in a relaxed atmosphere by the fire.

DAY 5: EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Today also features two safari activities—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In between, you can enjoy the peace and hospitality of the camp. Each excursion tells a new story: perhaps you will encounter a herd of zebras in the backlight or spot one of the rare sable antelopes. The diversity of the landscape—from sandy paths to vast grasslands—makes every game drive unique. In the evening, listen to the sounds of the bush: quiet, vibrant, and full of stories.

DAY 6: HWANGE – VICTORIA FALLS

(approx. 180 km / approx. 4:00 hours driving time)

After a final breakfast at the safari camp, you will bid farewell to Hwange and head north. Victoria Falls is not only a geographical highlight but also an emotional one. Your accommodation, the Bayete Guest Lodge, is nestled in a tropical garden—a place of relaxation after the intensive days in the bush. The afternoon is at your leisure: perhaps enjoy a swim in the pool, read under the palm trees, or simply reflect on the impressions of the last few days. Dinner is on your own tonight, with numerous restaurants in Victoria Falls waiting to be explored.

DAY 7: VICTORIA FALLS

Today you will explore the famous Victoria Falls on your own. A walk along the various viewpoints offers impressive perspectives—depending on the season, you will experience thundering water, rising spray, or deep insights into the basalt gorge. For lunch, we recommend the Lookout Café, which offers a spectacular view of the Zambezi gorge. The afternoon is yours to enjoy: whether a helicopter flight, a boat trip, or relaxing hours at the lodge, you can shape the day to your liking. Dinner is not included and can be chosen individually.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM VICTORIA FALLS

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport. You will head home with impressions, experiences, and memories of a tour through Zimbabwe that combined nature, culture, and genuine encounters in a unique way. End of services.

Zimbabwe Round Trip – Experience nature, safaris, and world wonders up close

Introduction

A round trip through Zimbabwe is more than just a classic African tour. It is an immersion into pristine landscapes, ancient cultures, and one of the most wildlife-rich safari regions in Southern Africa. At the same time, the country surprises with its impressive diversity: ancient granite formations, vast savannas, dense dry forests – and, with Victoria Falls, one of the greatest natural wonders of the world.

This eight-day private tour is designed for active, nature-loving travelers looking for something special: away from the crowds, in a small group or as a couple, with plenty of freedom and personal comfort.

Route & Highlights

The journey begins in the south of the country, in the legendary Matobo National Park, whose rugged rock landscapes are of spiritual significance and archaeological relevance. From there, the route continues to the eastern part of Hwange National Park, the largest and most famous wildlife sanctuary in Zimbabwe. The grand finale is a stay at the famous Victoria Falls – also known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders."

Safari & nature experiences

A centerpiece of this Zimbabwe tour is your stay in Hwange National Park. On several game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle, you will explore diverse habitats—from dry mopane woodlands to vast grasslands. The region is renowned for its large elephant population, lion prides, wild dogs, giraffes, and numerous antelope species. Experienced English-speaking guides will not only lead you to the wildlife but also explain the ecological connections and tracks in the bush.

Another highlight is the Matobo National Park, where, with a bit of luck, you can track rhinos on foot—a quiet, respectful moment that stays with you long after. The nature experience is complemented by cultural insights: prehistoric San rock art, a visit to the grave of Cecil Rhodes, and sweeping views from "World’s View."

In Victoria Falls , you will finally experience one of Africa’s most powerful natural phenomena—depending on the season, either in full flow or as an impressive rocky landscape with deep views into the gorge. Optional activities such as helicopter flights, boat cruises, or ziplining can be booked here.
