Overview

Zimbabwe — the magic of silence, the power of nature

There are trips that are more than just a change of scenery. They touch, slow down and open up the view of the essentials. zimbabwe is a destination that is able to do just that: unspoiled, original and full of contrasts — between granite mountains and golden savanna, between wild wildlife and ancient culture, between the quiet breath of the bush and the thunderous fall of the Victoria Falls.

This 8-day private trip is aimed at active, nature-loving travelers who want depth, space and genuine experiences. Comfortably organized — with transfers, stylish accommodation and experienced guides — yet free enough to consciously experience every day.

The journey begins in the spiritual rock landscapes of Matobo National Parks, where hikes to millennia-old rock carvings and rhino encounters on foot are among the most impressive experiences. You will then be waiting for you Hwange, the largest protected area in the country — a paradise for safari lovers with herds of elephants, packs of lions and vast plains stretching to the horizon. The crowning finale: two nights in Victoria Falls, where the power of the Zambezi becomes a tangible natural wonder.

What makes this trip special is the interplay between closeness and distance, between movement and leisure. Whether it's a game drive, a bush walk or a quiet moment at the waterhole — here you can experience Africa with all your senses.

A journey that slows down — and leaves traces behind. When did you last feel completely alive?

Day by day: itinerary

Treasures of Western Zimbabwe

DAY 1: BULAWAYO — MATOBO NATIONAL PARK

(approx. 50 km/approx. 1:00 hour pure driving time)

Upon arrival at Bulawayo Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your local tour guide. Just driving through the rural area towards Matobo National Park gives you a first impression of the original Zimbabwe. In the early afternoon, you will reach the impressively located Big Cave Camp, which blends harmoniously with the surrounding granite rocks. After check-in and a light lunch, set off on a guided hike through the lodge's private concession area. Between bizarre rock formations, centuries-old fig trees and open savanna, the beauty of Matobo is revealed in a very immediate way. In the evening, a stylish dinner with a panoramic view awaits you — the ideal start to your Zimbabwe round trip.

DAY 2: MATOBO NATIONAL PARK

Today, an intensive day in the UNESCO-protected Matobo National Park is on the agenda. After breakfast, join an experienced guide in the footsteps of rare white rhinos — a combination of game drive and foot safari makes this activity particularly impressive. Back at the lodge, enjoy a relaxing lunch before diving into the spiritual and cultural dimension of the park in the afternoon: You'll visit impressive rock carvings of the San, marvel at the view from “World's View” and finally stand at the grave of Cecil Rhodes, whose life story is closely linked to this region. The day ends with dinner at the lodge — filled with nature, history and fascinating encounters.

DAY 3: MATOBO — EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

(approx. 300 km/approx. 5:00 hours pure driving time)

After breakfast, your onward journey begins to the east of Hwange National Park — Zimbabwe's largest game reserve. The route takes you through open scrublands, small villages and dense dry forests until you reach Ivory Lodge early in the afternoon. The elevated chalets offer wonderful views of a frequently frequented waterhole. After lunch, you'll go straight on your first game drive in an open off-road vehicle — accompanied by an experienced guide who will introduce you to the diversity of wildlife. In the evening, an atmospheric dinner awaits you at camp — perhaps accompanied by the distant call of a hyena or cracking in the nearby bush.

DAY 4: EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

The day starts early — with a morning game drive in an open vehicle. Many animals are particularly active in the cool morning hours: lions return from hunting, elephants move to the watering holes, antelopes graze in the first light of day. If you want, you can then go on a guided bush walk — an intensive experience that adds new perspectives to the safari experience. After lunch, there is time to relax before heading out into the bush again in the afternoon. You might encounter a herd of buffaloes today or watch baboons playing wild. The day comes to a relaxing end by the fire.

DAY 5: EASTERN HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Today also offers two safari activities — in the morning and in the afternoon. In between, enjoy peace and hospitality in the camp. Each trip tells a new story: You might encounter a herd of zebras in the backlight or discover one of the rare sabre antelopes. The diversity of the landscape — from sandy trails to wide grassy areas — makes every game drive unique. In the evening, listen to the bush: quiet, lively and full of stories.

DAY 6: HWANGE — VICTORIA FALLS

(approx. 180 km/approx. 4:00 hours pure driving time)

After a last breakfast at the safari camp, you say goodbye to Hwange and head north. The Victoria Falls are not only the geographical highlight of the trip, but also the emotional one. Your accommodation, the Bayete Guest Lodge, is nestled in a tropical garden — a place to relax after intensive days in the bush. The afternoon is free: Perhaps enjoy a swim in the pool, read under palm trees or enjoy the impressions of the last few days. Individual dinner today — numerous restaurants in Victoria Falls invite you to try out.

DAY 7: VICTORIA FALLS

Today, explore the famous Victoria Falls on your own. A walk along the various viewpoints provides impressive perspectives — depending on the season, you can experience thundering water, rising spray or deep insights into the basalt gorge. For lunch, we recommend the Lookout Café — with spectacular views of the Zambezi Gorge. The afternoon is free for you: Whether it's a helicopter flight, a boat trip or relaxing hours in the lodge — you can arrange the day according to your taste. Dinner is also not included and can be selected individually.

DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM VICTORIA FALLS

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport. Also in the luggage: Impressions, experiences and memories of a round trip through Zimbabwe that combined nature, culture and real encounters in a unique way. End of benefits.

Zimbabwe round trip — experience nature, safari and wonders of the world up close

Initiation

One Round trip through Zimbabwe is more than a classic trip to Africa. It is an immersion in pristine landscapes, in cultures dating back thousands of years and in one of the most animal-rich safari areas in southern Africa. At the same time, the country surprises with impressive diversity: ancient granite formations, vast savannas, dense dry forest — and, with Victoria Falls, one of the world's greatest natural wonders.

This eight-day private trip is aimed at active, nature-loving travelers who are looking for something special: away from the crowds, in a small group or as a couple, with plenty of freedom and personal comfort.

Route & highlights

The journey begins in the south of the country, in the legendary Matobo National Park, whose rugged rocky landscapes are of spiritual and archaeological significance. From there, the route continues to eastern part of Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe's largest and most famous game reserve. The icing on the cake is a stay at the famous Victoria Falls — locally too Mosi-oa-Tunya, called “the smoke that thunders.”

Stations of your Zimbabwe round trip:

  • Matobo National Park: Rock art, rhino tracking & World's View
  • Hwange National Park: 3 night safari with game drives & bush walks
  • Victoria Falls: Free time, optional activities & natural spectacles

This compact yet intensive itinerary combines nature, wildlife, culture and comfort in perfect balance — ideal for a first, stylish encounter with Zimbabwe.

Safari & nature experiences

At the heart of the Zimbabwe round trip is a stay at Hwange National Park. On several game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle, you'll explore various habitats — from dry Mopane forests to vast areas of grass. The region is known for its large elephant population, lion packs, wild dogs, giraffes and numerous antelope species. Experienced, English-speaking guides not only take you to the animals, but also explain ecological connections and traces in the bush.

A special experience is also offered by Matobo National Park, where, with a bit of luck, you can watch rhinos on foot — a quiet, respectful moment that lasts a long time. The natural experience is complemented by cultural impressions: prehistoric San rock carvings, a visit to Cecil Rhodes' grave and sweeping views from the “World's View”.

In Victoria Falls Finally, experience one of Africa's most tremendous natural phenomena — in full water mass or as an impressive rocky landscape with deep views of the gorge, depending on the season. Optional activities such as helicopter flights, boat trips or ziplining can be booked here.
