Like the rest of the world, Frank and Charmaine had exhilarating plans in 2020, carefully crafted itineraries, and ambitious dreams. Then, all of a sudden, emergency braking. In this strange time of restrictions, the only freedom they found was the exchange of daily encouragement, inspiration, and positive observations.
With 10,000 km between Bremen, where Frank lives, and Botrivier, the home of Charmaine, it was the only way to share these moments. It is the pictures and texts taken every day.
In the words of Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel, “Even in darkness, it is possible to create light and promote compassion.”
This little photo book is a hopeful reminder of how people can support each other despite the circumstances or distance; of the shared sacrifices that have connected us to each other and to our larger communities.
We have collected thoughts, pictures and ideas that accompany the days in spring and summer 2020.
