And so much more. Tanzania is incomparable!

Experience the fascination of Tanzania, a country that captivates every visitor with its breathtaking diversity. Are you longing for pristine nature, endless savannas and exotic beaches? Tanzania opens the door to a world of majestic wilderness and warm hospitality.

Start your adventure in the endless expanse of the Serengeti. It is the place where the earth trembles under the hooves of large migratory herds. Tanzania is home to the spectacular natural spectacle of the Great Animal Migration — a migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests and zebras that answer nature's call in an eternal cycle. You are watching the age-old drama of life, survival, and natural selection unfold right before your eyes.

Be enchanted by the majestic beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro, which rises into the blue sky and attracts adventurers from all over the world. Climbing this venerable mountain is more than just a climb — it is a journey through five climate zones, culminating in a triumphant attainment of the summit, where Africa is at your feet.

But Tanzania is not only known for its natural wonders. Immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of the Masai, Chagga and other indigenous peoples, whose colorful traditions and warm hospitality offer you unforgettable insights into thousands of years of culture.

And after you've roamed the wilderness, why not experience the magic of the spice island of Zanzibar? Here, aromatic scents mingle in the winding alleys of Stone Town, white sandy beaches nestle against the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, and traditional dhows draw soft waves in the sand.

Trips to Tanzania don't have to be convincing — they are enchanting. Every sunset and gentle breeze carries the promise of a world yet to be discovered. Tanzania is waiting for you — with open arms and an adventure that will leave a lasting impression on your heart.

Information about our trips to Tanzania.

Our partner in Tanzania

If you want

Our partner Lifetime Safaris is one of Tanzania's most renowned safari brands. They are dedicated to providing our guests with breathtaking views and the best safari experience in Tanzania.

Like us, our partner is passionate about sharing Tanzania's rich heritage, culture, history and natural wonders with the world through tourism. The values, integrity and dedication with which we do our work distinguish Ajimba and Lifetime Safaris from other tour companies in East Africa and worldwide.

Together, we create tailor-made safari packages for Tanzania that are perfectly tailored to your needs. With Ajimba and Lifetime Safaris, you can make your dream come true at a budget-friendly price. Tailoring trips individually is our common specialty; you choose your destinations in Tanzania and the time, and we arrange everything else just for you.

With us, you will make a real connection with the nature and wildlife of this country. Whether you're a bird watcher, an animal lover, or an admirer of nature; you'll be surprised every time you visit Tanzania.

During your trip, you will not only get to know the beauty of nature and the unique wildlife, we also attach great importance to you getting to know the local population, learning more about their lifestyle and learning a lot about their rituals and customs, some of which are centuries old. They help to continue to make this life possible for local people.

And just as you might expect from us, we also attach great importance to sustainability during your trip. As always, Ajimba offsets your carbon footprint for you. Wherever possible, we avoid the usual lunch boxes on site, which, in addition to lots of disposable packaging, usually contain disposable cutlery and plastic water bottles. We have our always reusable containers filled for your lunch and we eat together with proper crockery and cutlery.

There is always plenty of water on board. You will receive a reusable water bottle on the first day of your round trip. You can, of course, keep them. We refill your bottle over and over again, preventing countless plastic bottles from being needed (and possibly ending up in the bush afterwards).

Your safari cruiser

If you want

We mainly use Toyota Landcruiser for your safaris. These are considered to be the most suitable vehicles to cope with the sometimes difficult terrain. They are extremely robust and reliable.

Our vehicles are equipped with six comfortable seats so that every guest is seated by the window. The windows can be individually opened to the side, so you can influence the air supply and headwind yourself.

During the safari, we open the roof so that unrestricted observation and photography is possible during animal sightings

In our vehicles, we have power outlets (English three-pin plugs) and USB ports. While driving, you can charge your electronic devices. In addition, we have our own, mobile-powered WLAN on board. Where there is sufficient network available, you can use it, for example, to share your latest sightings on social media.

The vehicles are equipped with a cool box, which always has large bottles of water available. You can then transfer this into your own water bottle. If you would like other drinks during the trip, please arrange this with your driver at the start of your tour. You are then very welcome to drive to a supermarket at the beginning and buy your desired drinks there.

Furthermore, we always have camping chairs and tables on board. We can therefore spend our lunch break independently and, if necessary, also have a picnic where no other infrastructure is available.

The itinerary of our trips

If you want

Your trip generally starts in Arusha, the lively tourist capital at the foot of the mighty Mount Meru. There are two airports here where your journey can start: Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), the international airport located about 50 km (1:15 h drive time) east, which also has a direct connection to European airports; and the Arusha Regional Airport (ARK), about 10 km west of the city. You can fly here if you entered Tanzania in Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar. If you have booked a connecting stay on an island, you will also fly from here towards the coast.

A representative will greet you at the respective airport and take you to your booked accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, you will then have the opportunity to relax from the flight or take a trip into the city.

The next morning, you will be picked up by your driver and simultaneous tour guide, animal expert, chef and more. He or she will then introduce you to your vehicle, discuss all (safety) rules and make general arrangements. Since you have booked the tour exclusively as a couple, family or group, i.e. there are no foreign guests on board, you can of course influence your trip individually. Your driver will be happy to meet your requirements.

At the end of your round trip, you will be taken to the airport in time for your departure. Your driver ensures that everything works out when you check in and that you can travel with peace of mind. If you have booked a stay at the seaside, a local representative will be waiting for you at your destination airport and will take you directly to your booked accommodation. And, of course, it will also drive you back to the airport at the end.

Traveling to Tanzania — Questions and Answers

When is the best time to travel to Tanzania?

Basically:
June to October (dry season) is ideal for safaris: clear visibility, animals gather at waterholes. January/February (cold, clear nights; calving season in southern Serengeti) are also very good. The “long rains” usually fall in March—May, the “short rains” around November.

By travel theme:

  • Safari (Serengeti/Ngorongoro): Best time June—October. Major migration: Calving Dec—March (peak Jan—Feb in the Ndutu area), river crossings on Grumeti around June—July and on the Mara River around Aug—Sept.
  • Tarangire: July—October very good (elephant concentrations).
  • Zanzibar/beaches: Optimally June—October and December—February; March—May often rainier, November changeable.
  • Mount Kilimanjaro: Best time January—March and June—October; cold nights, stable weather.

Practical planning tips:

  • High season: July—September and Christmas/New Year — book early.
  • Heat/Humidity: Warm and humid on the coast all year round; wide day/night temperature range inland.
  • Health: In lower altitudes, there is a partial risk of malaria — seek individual advice.

What vaccinations/health advice applies to Tanzania?

Basically:
Check/refresh standard vaccinations; hepatitis A is usually recommended. yellow fever: certificate only when entering from YF risk areas/transit > 12 hours; Depending on the route/region, vaccination may also be useful (check with a doctor).

Travel vaccinations depending on travel itinerary:
Hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies (especially when in contact with animals, trekking/Kilimanjaro). An der Coast/Dar es Salaam/Zanzibar come Dengue/Chikungunya Before — mosquito protection, especially during the day.

Malaria:
Widely used across the country, also on zanzibar — person-specific Chemoprophylaxis often recommended; additional strict puncture protection.

More notes:
Altitude sickness possible (Kilimanjaro), avoid fresh water (schistosomiasis).

Wichtiger Hinweis:

How safe is Tanzania for individual travellers?

Basically:
The usual safari and coastal routes are easy to travel with reputable providers. In big cities and busy markets, there is increased attention (pickpocketing). If possible, use taxi/rideshare in cities at night.

Most common risks & practical tips:

  • City transport (Dar, Arusha, Zanzibar City): Cell phone/camera not open on the side of the road; bags across and close to the body.
  • At night: Avoid unlit alleys; arrange transfers in advance via accommodation.
  • ATMs & payments: Official ATMs; don't accept help from strangers.
  • Safari/parks: Stay on tracks, follow rules; don't approach any wild animals.
  • Beaches/Zanzibar: Beach thefts are possible — leave valuables in the lodge.
  • Self-drive: Only with experience; road conditions vary widely — 4×4 and plan for daylight.
  • Clothing & culture: In Stone Town/village areas, dress respectfully (ensure shoulders/knee space).

Allgemeine Hinweise:
