As the sun set on a late fall afternoon, our journey began with Wild Wellness against the backdrop of the picturesque seaside town of Kleinmond. Nestled in the peace of the ocean and the rolling green Kleinmond golf course, the picturesque cottage awaited us Heunigklip, which promised us a quiet place to stay overnight.
But before we could make ourselves comfortable in our cottage, we were tempted by the call of adventure. We left the charming hamlet Oudebosch, which nestles on the banks of the Palmiet River, and were immediately surrounded by the lush vegetation of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. With every step we took forward, the peace of the reserve returned to us. A beauty that touches the mind and soul. The tranquil atmosphere of Kogelberg Nature Park had a magical effect on us. Under the guidance of Leigh-Anne and Peter, we felt a deep connection with the surrounding wilderness.
As the sun sank below the horizon and colored the sky in shades of green and orange, we made our way back to the cottage Heunigklip. The cozy hideaway was the ideal place to relax.
Our small hiking group gathered around the dinner table and was filled with laughter and camaraderie. The scent of hearty, homemade Thai curry prepared by “Nutmeg's Kitchen” ( https://nutmegskitchen.com ), filled the air and seduced our senses. In the flickering glow of candlelight, we shared stories about the highs and lows of the day and established bonds that should last beyond our time together. While we enjoyed every moment, we knew that our adventure was far from over. Our hearts full of anticipation and gratitude, and with legs feeling the pleasant pain of a well-spent day, we fell asleep dreaming of the adventure that tomorrow would bring.
They say you can never see too many sunrises... So we set off on the next adventure before the first daylight. After a cup of freshly brewed coffee, whose aroma mixed with the fresh morning air, we began our sunrise hike to “Hangclip” and were excited about the experiences in nature.
We reached the summit when the sun says good morning and stood in the pristine wilderness high above the False Bay. The wind whispered secrets in our ears, and the sun warmed our faces. We took a moment to enjoy the breathtaking views of Table Mountain on the other side of the bay.
But our adventure was far from over. After a well-deserved break and a delicious cappuccino at the Lemon Coffee Shop in Pringle Bay For our last hike, we returned to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve back. We wandered from Oudebosch for Harold Porter Botanical Garden and plunged into a world of ancient yellowwood forests. We also found the king's protea along the way again and again.
Accompanied by Waldo and Johnathan, our knowledgeable guides from Wild Wellness, we set off on a journey through the rough terrain. On the winding paths, we discovered new wonders and hidden treasures at every step and were fascinated by the beauty of the surrounding area.
Just when we thought the day couldn't get any better, we came across the dark water of Palmiet river. And of course we plunged into the cool waters of the river. The initial shock of the cold water soon gave way to pure happiness.
As our hike came to an end, the feeling of “done” spread. Unforgettable experiences that we enjoy amidst the tranquil beauty of Western Cape , it made it easy to thank Leigh-Anne and Peter from Wild Wellness for their leadership of our small group and their expertise about nature. A highlight was the mountain Hangklip At sunrise and another swimming in Palmiet-River. Every moment has left a lasting impression.
As we said our goodbyes to the wild, our trip was eye-opening to how important it is to preserve this beauty for future generations. We can now say that these valuable landscapes must be maintained and protected so that future adventurers can also enjoy them.
