The selection of accommodationsexceeded our expectations. Imvelo Safari Lodges provided us not only withluxurious surroundings but also the opportunity to witness wildlife in theirnatural habitat. The game drives were breathtaking, and we had the privilege ofobserving elephants, lions, and other fascinating animals up close.

Victoria Falls Hotel was a truedelight with its historical charm and proximity to the magnificent VictoriaFalls. The views were spectacular, and the heli ride over the Falls allowed usto appreciate the beauty of the region from a different perspective.

The highlight of our trip wasundoubtedly Chundu Island. This secluded paradise, surrounded by lush natureand a serene atmosphere, was like a dream come true. The boat rides on theriver and encounters with hippos and crocodiles were unforgettable. Thehospitality and service at Chundu Island made us feel like we were in paradise.

We would also like to thank yourteam for the excellent organization and support throughout our journey. Everyaspect was meticulously planned, and your professionalism provided us with asense of security and comfort.

Trip 25.03. - 13.04.2019 - Seychelles - short and sweet

With two islands and in between a sea voyage across the inner Seychelles

1. Flight from Frankfurt a.M. via Doha to Mahé Island/Seychelles with Qatar Airways. Qatar Airways received the World Award for Best Airline in 2018. Very rightly so, everything top and always happy with Qatar Airways.

As individual travellers with two islands and in between a sea voyage across the inner Seychelles, the various transfers from the airport to the port, from the port to the hotel, from the hotel to the ship etc. were important and top organized, punctual, clean, polite, suitcases dragging in the tropical heat... Thank you Mason's Travel!

3. travel stages
(1) The first island was 5 days Praslin and the Berjaya Praslin Beach Hotel with air-conditioned bungalows, restaurants, swimming pool and directly at the sea - very beautiful long beach with enough shade and snorkeling useful - and shopping facilities (water) directly there.

To recommend, because of the weight-neutral organization of the three-week vacation, instead of lunch in the pizzeria the preparation and/or the consumption of fruit plates, cut open and washed fruits, with fresh coconut water from the nut handed by the Seychellois Creole People of the beach.

Hotel was beautiful, clean, ***stars, good service all everywhere. At the reception, the guests were very polite, courteous and successful in dealing with all questions and problems. Breakfast sufficient and o.k. with lots of fruits, individual selection of various and freshly prepared egg dishes, etc., sausage and cheese a la Germany should understandably not necessarily be expected in the Seychelles. The restaurant was very good.

Seybrew, the local beer, is not only cheaper than the imported and already well known beer, it is also delicious. Since we sailed the 2nd week 7 days on the ship to many important islands, we did not make any trips from Praslin and Mahé and on Praslin. Directly at the shining white beach Cote d'Or Beach of the hotel, 25m to the left of the supported coconut palm, very recommendable for souvenir purchases: the small art gallery!

(2) The ship of Silhouette Cruises Ltd. Sea Star was very good (air-conditioned cabins) with a very attentive crew, good service, delicious food (full board). As there was little wind at our deliberately chosen travel time and anchoring under land at night, there was no case of seasickness among the 12 passengers and no one thought of it either. The program was age-appropriate, challenging, varied and there was always something going on. Great small islands, great beaches, well organized excursions with the Vallee de Mai with the Coco de Mer on Praslin as a highlight for us.

Also for over 60 years old and over everything was to be mastered well. While snorkeling every day, mostly in the afternoon, on the different often lonely islands and beaches, the weight and the condition doesn't matter anyway, the salt content is high enough for everyone in the Indian Ocean. We found, instead of 3x island hopping and car leasing on the main islands, this round trip with the cutter was a very nice and pleasant, interesting alternative.

(3) After 7 days ship 6 days on Mahé and the luxurious Carana Beach Hotel****. Only 3, 4 years old, everything of the finest, very nice, delicious breakfast, great restaurant - as half board or individually possible. A completely modern, very well air-conditioned double bungalow, view to the sea, very beautiful terrace, clean, super sanitary area, wide beds, not too soft, bathrobe and bath slippers...German TV 22.00 in the evening after the meal, because 2h time shift, was after 2.5 weeks TV withdrawal also once quite nice. Great small beach, approx. 80 - 100 m long and rather only for the max. 70 department guests intended. Bus stop at the hotel and for 50 Cent once around the whole island or to the capital Victoria. Well, that was a dream.

Conclusion:
Either way, the Seychelles are always worth a visit and offer not only beautiful beaches, sun and sea. Nice, friendly, unobtrusive people or Seychellois and the prices are not negotiable. So almost everything like at home.... Thanks to the organizers and doers, who realized our wishes so perfectly.

South Africa: The wild East

South Africa is a beautiful country - two years ago we were able to experience this during a two-week holiday in the Cape Town region. So it was obvious, that it would be South Africa again, but this time the East.

After a flight via Paris to Johannesburg we started our round trip with our first overnight stay at The Peech Hotel in Melrose, Johannesburg. Wonderfully relaxed, clear arrangement with a pretty garden and pool in the feel-good district Melrose. Since we were quite flat after the overnight flight, our 17-year-old daughter, my husband and I took it easy and "chilled" the day in the garden. In the evening we ate, slept and enjoyed the first day of discovery. From Johannesburg we went by rental car to the Mpumalange Highlands, spending the night in the simple but cosy Misty Mountain Lodge - with a fireplace in the bedroom and a great view. It was quite cold, but the fireplace and the electric blankets in the beds were great. The next day we drove the Panorama Route. Absolute highlight "Blyde River Canyon" and the Bourke´s Luck Potholes.

The itinerary included another night in the Misty MountainLodge. It is more advisable to drive the Panorama Route and then head for the next destination, the Umlani Bush Camp in Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Umlani Bush Camp - expensive, but worth every cent. The overnight cabins are basic, the beds comfortable and the bathroom rudimentary. Electricity for lights is available - mobile phone recharging is possible in the small shop. And everything is just perfect! The surroundings are beautiful, nature, animals and perception are in the foreground. The food was delicious and we especially enjoyed the conversations with the staff of the lodge during dinner. Afterwards all guests sat cozily around a fire (Bush TV), told or dreamed about the day, the game drives or whatever was going on behind their foreheads. The Game Drives were great - all Big Five without Jeep traffic jams, very calm and relaxed, short hikes to the giraffes with the guide and a fantastic starry sky. Finally we know what the Southern Cross looks like! 2 nights in the Umlani are a must. Those who can afford 3 nights should do so.

After 2 days we continued through the Orpen Gate and the Kruger National Park with many animal sightings further south. After several holidays in Namibia, Tanzania and Kenya with large herds of animals we found the Kruger experience ok. The landscape is beautiful, but somehow we lacked atmosphere - everything is so perfect. In any case plan a lot of time. From Orpen Gate to Malalane Gate it took us about 7 hours - at a comfortable ride, but you are not allowed to go faster than 50 km/h.

We spent the night in the Mhlati Guest Cottage and continued the next day to Swaziland. The border control is for us Europeans with the pleasure of the open borders a real experience. Parking, getting out, passport control in one bungalow, then show the car papers in another. Attention also here you need an English birth certificate for minors. The journey continued to Mkhaya Game Reserve Stone Camp. You need time for that! The road conditions are partly unbelievable, one Pothole follows the next and more than 40 kilometers per hour are not possible over long distances or an axle break threatens. So better not. But as the Africans always say: "You have the clock, we have the time". At 16:00 o'clock we were picked up punctually at the meeting point by the ranger and brought by Game Drive to the Stone Camp. This is really an experience. You spend the night in open huts - no fear of cold: the blankets are very warm and hot water bottles are also available. And no fear of wild animals either: there are no big predators there and the monkeys only romp through the hut when you are not there. The monkeys like tea and sweets very much...

In the evening there was a super tasty meal at the fire, followed by a dance performance by the staff - it's a shame that they don't save it - nice, but superfluous. The next morning at the crack of dawn another Game Drive and then we went back to the car at 09:00 o'clock. The accommodation is really nice, but the stay is very short. You simply have to know that and then decide whether the price-performance ratio is right for you. So back to the car, departure from Swaziland - same procedure, but at Mananga Border Point the whole really former Eastern Bloc charm. The border between South Africa and Swaziland seems to be particularly worth protecting.

St. Lucia at the beach was next on the agenda - our daughter was happy. Finally relaxation and sunbathing. And finally the weather was better. The first week we sometimes had a good freeze - we had layered clothes with us, so everything was fine. According to reports it was an exceptional week in South Africa. After that we really enjoyed the warmth and the sun. St. Lucia is a very pleasant little holiday resort, many restaurants, beautiful beaches and the highlight on the way to the most beautiful beach at Cape Vidal a game drive with the possibility to see buffalos, rhinos, zebras... to see. The place is simply good in between: relaxed civilization in beautiful surroundings. We spent the night in the Avalone Guest House. The garden is awesome, the rooms ok, the breakfast super.

Afterwards we went via Durban - not worth mentioning and easy to leave - to the Drakensberge. Our absolute highlight - my goodness, that's beautiful. We spent 2 nights in the comfortably equipped Montusi Mountain Lodge with a direct view to the "Amphitheater". And finally movement: 2 hikes in spectacular nature, on very good and signposted hiking trails. For hikers there are many possibilities and for those who like, there is a challenge. And for those who like to eat well, the Montusi Mountain Lodge is the perfect place. Delicious! If you are planning the Drakensberge, then you should definitely visit the Montusi Mountain Lodge. We would have liked to renounce Durban in order to spend another day in the Drakensberg Mountains.

From the Drakensberg we went back to the airport in Johannesburg. We could refuel our rental car directly at a somewhat hidden gas station, felt in the middle of the airport. And a few words about the rental car: We didn't need a four-wheel drive for the route and the season. That was Holger Asche's recommendation - we saved the money in the right place. If you also plan to cross the border in Swaziland, remember to get an authorization from the car rental company - preferably in duplicate.

A very positive customer experience at the end. Almost every evening the agency contacted us, asked how we were doing and if we needed any tips or would like some. Yes, we did, and so we got very helpful advice and even if we didn't like Durban, the restaurant recommendation was the hit. What steaks! :-)

South Africa - again for sure. Next time from Paternoster to Addo National Park.

The first time - Africa beginner and repeater on the road with Ajimba

What exactly do you do with an African beginner in South Africa? The basics.

Our journey started in Port Elizabeth and led us over a detour into a private part of the Addo National Park, further along the Garden Route, into the hinterland to Oudtshoorn, further across the Winelands to Cape Town.

What an excitement!! Will it all work? Two women alone on their way in South Africa...

But all the excitement for nothing. It already started with the pick-up service at the airport, which brought us on foot to the car rental, so no long searching. Ajimba had advised us to get a South African SIM card to be able to navigate via a mobile phone. Fortunately! The navigation device often did not want to find the location information.

And then we drove directly to paradise - Kuzuko Lodge! The way was long and bumpy, but that's paradise.

Game Drives - we were allowed to experience three of them. And if you sit in an open vehicle for the first time, only three meters (!) away from three full-grown lions, then you experience great respect, awe and an indescribable goose bumps running up and down your back. Simply indescribable!

The Kuzuko Lodge is small but nice. You live beautifully in small cabins, have a small pool and a large main house. The food was excellent and the people incredibly friendly. The area of the Kuzuko Lodge is limited, the animal population is adapted to it. It is not like the zoo, where you pass the first elephant after 100 meters. The drivers at the Game Drives search for the animals and this can take some time. That's just nature! We liked it very much that Ajimba also works with such small reserves.

Due to the rental car we were unbound and could stop anytime and anywhere. On our trip we had a different accommodation almost every night, so we saw a lot, but actually it was much too beautiful everywhere to stay only one night...

We were contacted several times by Ajimba and/or her partners in South Africa and asked whether everything is good, we need information or anything else can be done for us. What a service!

And so we drove along the Garden Route, crossed the mountains into the Klein Karoo, spent a night in the Mooiplaas Guesthouse and looked for our way via Route 62 to Stellenbosch. From there we went on to Cape Town.

From Cape Town we had a wonderful day trip across the Cape Peninsula. For this trip we had booked a tour guide, also via Ajimba. It was great! One day we didn't read a map, use our navigation system, search for a parking place, search for a hotel, but simply got driven and got information about the country and its people. After this day we separated only with a heavy heart from our dear guide. And for us it is clear, if we are once again in Cape Town and need a guide, then only Neville comes into question for us!

A conclusion:

For me it was the first time in South Africa, but certainly not the last. At any time we would let Ajimba plan our trips again - so unagitated and with these many wonderful recommendations... We would love to start again right away!
